The head coach of the Kenyan national football team, Engin Firat, believes that sanctions against Russia have become positive for the national team and the championship. He told RIA Novosti about this .
“Sanctions help Karpin rebuild the national team, this is a positive moment. Right now is the time to give the young people the way. For example, guys like Sergei Volkov . The RPL has always been a quality league, but due to UEFA sanctions , many good foreign players left the league. If the young players continue to grow, I am sure this will ensure a bright future for your championship,” Firat said.
The national teams of Russia and Kenya will play a friendly match in Turkey on October 16. The meeting will take place at 19:00 Moscow time.
The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in the spring of 2022 decided to suspend the Russian national team, as well as all Russian clubs, from participation in all competitions controlled by these organizations. Valery Karpin’s team missed the World Cup in Qatar , failing to take part in the play-offs.
Previously, Firat said that the Russian team will be one of the top teams in the world.
