Putin announced readiness to increase trade with India in a number of areas

Russia is ready to increase oil and fertilizer supplies to India. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Valdai Forum, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are, by the way, ready, in addition to oil supplies – supplies to the Indian market have increased many times over. This concerns the possibility of supplying liquefied natural gas,” the Russian leader said.

It is noted that 35% of Indian oil imports come from Russia.

Putin also reported that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told him about the urgent need of Indian farmers to increase the supply of fertilizers.

“We have done this and are ready to increase it, keeping in mind the needs of Indian agriculture,” the Russian President said.

According to the Russian leader, the volume of trade between the two countries has now approached $60 billion, while the potential for expanding bilateral trade has not yet been exhausted.

Before that, China, India, and Turkey sharply reduced purchases of Russian coal. These countries are the main buyers of this type of fuel from Russia. India reduced purchases by 23% year-on-year, to 20.1 million tons, and Turkey by 35%, to 15.3 million tons.
