A powerful magnetic storm will cover the Earth after a solar flare. Journalists were informed about this by setting up a trap, the solar astronomy laboratories of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics reported, Lenta.ru reports .
“From the point of view of forecasting magnetic storms, such situations, when the emission touches the Earth by the edge, are extremely unpleasant. Mathematical models in such cases almost always produce high-level storms, which, however, often do not materialize, since the substance ultimately passes close, but still past the planet,” the IKI RAS reported.
It is stated that the peak of solar activity will occur on Saturday, October 26.
Before this, scientists announced the beginning of the period of maximum solar activity.
When the Sun is most active, space weather events become more frequent. Solar activity has already increased the visibility of auroras and impacted satellites and infrastructure in recent months.
Earlier, astronomers warned about the possibility of a weak magnetic storm on Wednesday, October 16.
